Don't let anyone define your aesthetic value. That is what I believe when it comes to pictures. I love minimalist styles and clean, colorful objects. When I first knew Instagram, I was really bad at taking pictures, unlike my sister who was really good at it. I kept practicing taking shots and finally found my own style.
